If you run a business, one of the biggest opportunities most people overlook is how much value you can earn from your regular business spending.
Advertising, travel, shipping costs, and other operational expenses add up quickly. When those purchases are going on the right credit card, they can generate a huge amount of rewards over time.
That’s exactly why I like the Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card.
While some business cards focus on simplicity, like the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card, this one focuses on earning a lot of points in categories where many businesses already spend money.
A Great Offer
You can currently earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
Those bonus points you earn are Chase Ultimate Rewards points, some of the most valuable points out there.
For a card with a relatively low annual fee of $95, the current signup bonus is pretty great.
Strong Earning Potential
Another reason I like this card is that the bonus categories align well with how many businesses actually spend money.
You’ll earn 3x points per dollar on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases in the following categories each account anniversary year: shipping purchases, advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines, internet, cable and phone services, and travel.
Plus you’ll earn unlimited 1x points per dollar spent on all other purchases and as a bonus, you can also earn 5x points on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027 with your Chase Ink Business Preferred card.
The Value of Ultimate Rewards Points
With the Ink Business Preferred, you earn Ultimate Rewards points, which can be redeemed through the Chase Travel℠ portal, as cash back, for gift cards, through the Apple Ultimate Rewards Store, or my personal favorite: transfer partners.
You’ll have the ability to transfer your points at a 1:1 rate to many top travel partners. These include partners like United MileagePlus, World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, and many more.
This is where the value of your points can truly shine. That means a 100,000-point bonus can be the same as 100,000 Hyatt points or 100,000 British Airways Avios. This is why I love a transferable points credit card.
Other Perks
Outside of the earning rates and points potential, this card offers several other benefits that business owners may find useful, including no foreign exchange fees.
You’ll be able to add employee cards at no additional cost and set spending limits on each card.
Plus you’ll get certain protections when using your Ink Preferred card like primary auto rental coverage, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, cell phone protection, and purchase protection.
My Final Thoughts
If you’re a business owner and spend a lot on shipping, advertising, internet, cable and phone services, or travel, this card is almost a no-brainer since you’ll be earning 3x points on the first $150,000 in combined purchases each year.
