Review: Lufthansa First Class Terminal Frankfurt

The Lufthansa First Class Terminal at Frankfurt Airport in Germany is one of the most exclusive terminals in commercial aviation. This isn’t a flight review, but instead a review on the lounge itself. However, here were the details of my booking method –

  • Route: FRA – IAH
  • Plane: Boeing 747
  • Cost: 100,000 Air Canada Miles + $146
  • Departure: September 2022

Visiting the First Class Terminal is a bucket list experience for anyone in the points & miles space. It truly is one of the most exclusive terminals you can access with just a standard award ticket. To access the terminal you must have a Lufthansa or Swiss First Class ticket. This includes both cash and award tickets. If you have top tier status with Lufthansa as a HON Circle member, you also have access to the terminal and lounge, though this is very difficult to get.

I visited the lounge in September 2022 with a first class award ticket on Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Houston. Since award tickets fall into one of the categories that allows access, I was able to visit the First Class Terminal.

This is one of the best ground experiences in the world.

This isn’t Just a Lounge…

The Lufthansa First Class Terminal is technically a terminal, not a lounge. Though a lounge exists inside, this is an entire terminal with private security, passport control, and more. The terminal itself makes your experience as seamless as possible at Frankfurt. To access the terminal you are dropped off directly in front, or you can walk just a few minutes from Terminal 1.

When you arrive at the terminal, you are greeted by a Lufthansa personal assistant who helps you check in and go through the security checkpoint (which took less than a minute.) Since my flight was an international flight back to the US, the agent held onto my passport until it was time to leave for the plane, more on that to come here shortly…

Inside the terminal is the lounge itself which is one of my favorites in the world.

The lounge offers a variety of À la carte dining.

Lounge Amenities

Inside the lounge itself you will have access to a la carte dining, cigar lounge, daybeds, showers, and so much more. The bar itself has over 100 different whiskies to offer. I recommend arriving a few hours prior to departure so you can really enjoy the lounge and all it has to offer. Since my flight was a mid-morning flight I arrived around 7:30AM for an 10AM departure.

The lounge is open daily from 5:30AM – 10:00PM giving passengers of all departing times plenty of opportunities to enjoy the lounge. It has many different seating options spread across the nearly 20,000 square feet of the lounge.

The lounge offers lots of different seating options, it was pretty empty when I went.

Porsche Experience

Perhaps the best part of the entire experience at the terminal is how you actually get to your first class seat. When the plane has begun to board, your personal assistant will come up to you with your passport and lead you down to the private passport control. After getting your exit stamp, it is then time to head to your transfer, which may be a shared shuttle or a Porsche.

You are driven to the plane on the tarmac via private transfer as you get to your seat for the flight of a lifetime.

You will be driven to your seat on the tarmac via private transfer (sometimes even in a Porsche!)

The fun on the ground ends after you get to your seat of course, but the Lufthansa First Class Terminal still remains the best ground experience that I’ve ever had.
