Hilton lake Como

Review: Hilton Lake Como, Italy

If you are wondering where to stay in Lake Como, Italy. Then look no further than one of the most beautiful hotels in all of Lombardy, the Hilton Lake Como. The Hilton Lake Como is one of my favorite Hilton hotels that I’ve ever stayed in.

  • Hotel: Hilton Lake Como
  • Booking Method: Free Weekend Night Certificate from Hilton Aspire Credit Card
  • Date of Stay: May 2022
  • Official Star Rating: 4 Stars

The Hilton Lake Como offers incredible lake views, as well as a rooftop pool. Next to the pool is even a bar and restaurant so you can admire the views while having some of the incredible Italian cuisine.

The Hilton Lake Como is just a 10 minute walk to the city center, and the hotel is a popular destination for weddings, honeymoons, and the more. Funny enough, even though it’s a popular destination or couples, I actually ended up here alone, as I wanted a break from the hostel life and figured it was a great use of my free night certificate with the Hilton Aspire Credit Card.

Getting to the Hilton Lake Como

I took the train from Milan directly to Como station and then simply walked to the hotel, which is about a 15 minute walk. However, if you are more keen to drive (especially if you have luggage) you can get a taxi pretty easily outside of the station.

Pricing & Booking

I used my free night certificate with my Hilton Aspire Credit Card and saved a considerable amount of money. During peak season, one night can easily run over $800 per day, which makes this a great use case for the free night certificate. Just be sure to keep an eye on the exclusions for the Hilton properties worldwide that do not participate in the program.

Peak season in July can see room rates go up to over $1,000 per night.

Cash rates get pretty hefty during peak season which runs from about mid-June through the end of August. If you are able to find a standard room available during peak season, this could be a good use of Hilton points. Standard rooms here during peak season go for about 90,000 Hilton Honors points.

Unfortunately since Hilton uses dynamic award pricing, you can see that it gets to be pretty expensive dependent on the days you are trying to go.

Reduce Cost by Using a Free Weekend Night Certificate

With the Hilton Honors Aspire Card, you get one free weekend night certificate to use when you open the card, and again on each card anniversary. Since the card comes with a $550 annual fee, you can see that the value of a free weekend night can easily outweigh the cost of the annual fee. Just note that if you are using a free weekend night certificate for any Hilton, it must be a Standard Room Reward.

You can see a stay here from July 21st – July 22nd, that falls on a Sunday, is bookable as a Standard Room Reward. This means you can use your Hilton Free Weekend Night Certificate. The cash cost for this is $772, making the Hilton Honors Aspire Credit Card easily worth the annual fee, especially since it comes with other perks like Hilton Diamond status.

The Hilton Lake Como is a hotel full of elegance and with a stunning backdrop, it remains one of my favorite hotel stays I’ve ever had, even if it was just for a “free” night.
