The Perfect Card to Pair with a Capital One Venture or Venture X (No Annual Fee)

Capital One miles can be incredibly valuable, and some of my favorite everyday cards out there are both the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, along with the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.

Both of these cards earn at least 2x miles on every single dollar, no matter what category, making them incredibly easy to use and maximize.

Where things lack a bit, is that many other cards out there offer additional multipliers like 3x or 4x on popular categories like dining, groceries, and more. With these categories being some of the largest spend categories for anyone, you do wish there would be a way to easily get additional miles for popular categories…

That’s where the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card comes in. Which I’d argue is one of the best cards to pair for either the Venture or Venture X, with no annual fee.

Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card

Limited Time Offer: Earn $250 cash back* after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.

(*cash back can be converted to Capital One miles at a 1:1 rate when holding a Venture or Venture X, meaning this welcome offer can potentially be worth 25,000 Capital One miles)

The Math Behind The Card

For starters, this card comes with a $0 annual fee. That alone is one of the best perks of the card, given how expensive annual fees can get to nowadays. Though the real benefits of the card, are the bonus categories that come with the Savor Cash card.

  • 3% cash back on Grocery Stores (excluding superstores like Walmart® and Target®)
  • 3% cash back on Dining
  • 3% cash back on Entertainment
  • 3% cash back on Popular Streaming Services
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases
  • 8% cash back on Capital One Entertainment purchases
  • 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel

Arguably one of the best perks about the bonus categories is that these categories are unlimited. There’s no cap on spend, which is quite different from some other cards.

As you can see, there are a lot of bonus categories here. The main ones that to call out include dining, groceries, and entertainment.

Earning 3% cash back on these can be a serious reason to look into the card alone, but the real benefit comes between converting the cash back into Capital One miles when you hold the right card.

“Convert” Cash Back into Capital One Miles

If you have a Capital One miles earning card like the Venture or Venture X, Capital One allows you to combine your rewards so that your cash back can become the fully transferrable and valuable Capital One miles.

You’ll get a rate of 1 cent of cash back to 1 Capital One mile, essentially making the 3% categories, 3x categories after conversion.

Plus, the $250 welcome bonus, can actually become 25,000 Capital One miles, if you hold an eligible Capital One miles-earning card, making this an amazing offer for a card with no annual fee.

Just note that you can not transfer your miles to cash back at the same rate.

Other Benefits of the Savor Card

The main reason to look into the Savor card for me is the 3%/3x categories that pair incredibly well with a Venture or Venture X.

However, there are other benefits that come with the card as well like a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 months (18.49% – 28.49% variable APR after that, and a balance transfer fee applies)

When you combine the limited time welcome offer, the 3%/3x categories, along with a card that has no annual fee, you see just how strong this can become.

Pat’s Final Take:

All in all, the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card, is without a doubt looking into if you already hold a Capital One miles earning card.

Since this card also has a limited time welcome offer, there’s arguably no better time than now to look into it.
